  • Good size/length — able to match up with larger receivers
  • Good ball skills — consistently gets head around to locate the football, finishes at the catch-point (4 ints in 2016)
  • Very athletic and fluid — loose hips; quick, efficient footwork, smooth backpedal
  • Excellent man coverage skills (press and “off”) — very good at staying in-phase with receivers
  • Excellent recovery speed
  • Good route recognition — anticipates breaks of receivers
  • Good play recognition — reads quarterback’s eyes effectively
  • Utilizes sideline as an extra defender
  • Solid tackler — can be helpful in run support
  • Excellent pursuit angles

WEAKNESSES


  • Inconsistent in zone coverage — can be hesitant at times
  • Doesn’t always form tackle — will dive at ankles or tackle with shoulder on occasion
  • Inexperienced (1-year starter)
  • Durability — missed all of 2014 due to hamstring surgery, played 7 games in 2015, but was eventually sidelined because of hamstring issues
  • Wasn’t tested by any top-tier receiver prospects
